Patch Notes: December 5, 2024
It’s that time! We have come a long way from our Friends and Family Closed Alpha with less than 100 players to the launch of Open Beta back at GenCon to now as we announce the conclusion of our Open Beta with over 10,000 players and the start of Early Access.
What does Early Access mean?
Early Access for us means the implementation of our in-game store, Galaxy Pass and the final reset of collections. Here is an overview of what we have planned for each of these items.
In-game Store
It is our goal to make Once Upon a Galaxy to be as player friendly as possible while also making a sustainable model that allows us to keep making this game we love for many years to come. To do this, our in game store will sell the following:
- Gems
- 500 ($4.99)
- 1,000 + 100 Bonus Gems ($9.99)
- 2,000 + 300 Bonus Gems ($19.99)
- 5,000 + 1,000 Bonus Gems ($49.99)
- 10,000 + 4,000 Bonus Gems ($99.99)
- New Player Bundle ($4.99)
- 500 Gems + 1,500 Bonus Gems.
- One-time purchase per account
Gems will be our in-game currency that can be purchased with real world money and used to buy premium items in the shop. What are these premium items?
- Booster Cards
- 1 Booster Card - 50 gems
- 20 Booster Cards - 1,000 gems
- 100 Booster Cards - 5,000 gems
These will contain a random card, for a random captain, that you haven’t collected already.
- Captain Bundles - 500 gems
- 3 available in the shop each day
- One time purchase
- 20 Captain Specific Boosters
These are bundles that rotate daily at 12pm PST that spotlight a specific captain. These are a great way to fill out the collection of the Captains that you like most!
- Cosmetics
We want to provide amazing ways for our players to customize their Galaxy experience. These cosmetics will include Alternate Art Captains, Special Card Frames and more! The specifics of these items are still being determined. Stay tuned for more details once we have more information to share.
Galaxy Pass
Each month there will be a fresh Galaxy Pass with two tracks. There will be a free track and a premium track. Play games to gain stardust and explore new worlds to gain the amazing rewards along each pass. Note: Our first Galaxy Pass will go through December and to the end of January. Our Galaxy Pass will contain the following:
Free Track (Free)
- New Captain
- Lots of Booster Cards for random Set 1 Captains
- A special alt-art Captain skin
Premium Track ($9.99)
- Exclusive early access to the premium Captain of the Month
- Tons more Booster Cards for random Set 1 Captains
- Several alt-art Captain skins, including an exclusive premium skin for the Captain of the Month
Note: The premium Captain of the Month will be available on the free track 2 months after their debut. For example, here is the upcoming schedule for Galaxy Pass Captains.
Collection Reset
With Once Upon a Galaxy moving into Early Access, we will also be initiating our final planned collection reset. With this new patch, all beta players will be granted 5,000 gems ($50) into their accounts automatically as a thank you for helping us test the Beta. We do not plan on resetting collections again after this patch.
Card Changes
- Anne Bunny - Hunt now +6/+6
- Calypso - Now gives +2/+1
- Frog Prince - is now a 5/5
- Glory Seeker/Wormtongue - are now 3/2
- Kid Icarus - is now a 6/4
- Mortakon - Now gives +2/+2 (and is himself a 2/2) and the quest is 30 total
- Nutcracker Prince - Now gives +3/+4 and is a 3/4
- Toto - Golden Toto now gives a bonus shop that will contain a quester.
- The Fates - Golden Fates now gives a bonus shop of all spells, The Fates has been moved to personal pool
- Sugarplum Faerie, Ten Million Fireflies, Jelly Roger - Now have Recruit and work with cards like Drafty Window.
